Cholla Division: First Prize $200, second Prize $100, third Prize $50
Any subject, any form, 40 lines or less.
Chaqueta Division: First Prize $100, second Prize $50, third Prize $25
Southwest Theme: nature, people, history,etc.--any form, 40 lines or less
Chimera Division: First Prize $100, second prize $50, third Prize $25
Imaginative or absurd/humorous--40 lines or less
Chaparjos Division: First Prize $100, Second Prize $50, Third Prize $25
Rhymed and metered poem, any subject, 40 lines or less
Student Division: $200 in prizes, No fee: Washington County Students only.
 
  GUIDELINES
Each poem must:
  1. Be original, unpublished. 40 lines or less (INCLUDING title, all lines of writing, all blank lines between)

 

2. Have line lengths to fit chapbook pages, “typed” neatly on white 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
  3. Be in good taste.
  4. FIRST Place winners in a category may enter only other divisions that next year.
  5. A poem entered cannot have won more than $10 in a contest.
 
SEND TWO COPIES of each poem with Division in top left corner, no ID on firts copy.
SECOND COPY ONLY: top right corner: name, address, e-mail , phone (Sticker okay).
Entries welcome postmarked July 1, 2008, through November 1, 2008.
 

No poems will be returned. For a list of winners, include your SASE.

Submission indicates permission for top 3 poems to be published in the Chaparral Poetry Forum chapbook and/or online at www.redrockwriters.org .

All winning entries will be read at the 13th Annual Redrock Writing Seminar.
